My new obsession!
Just picked this up @ Joann's! Seemed interesting because I love "on the go" things! After a quick perusal, I'm excited about trying this technique!

Defying the Laws of Physics!
To defy the laws of physics means to suck AND blow at the same time. This describes my ability to turn the edge on a cotton appliqué. I suck so badly at it, it blows! I spent hours on YouTube searching for an answer, countless more hours searching for the holy grail of needle turning knowledge on quilting websites, boards, blogs and more. So many great ideas and techniques displayed happily by quilters from around the world, touting the ease of it. So simple anyone can do it. They made it look so easy, so beautiful, so curved! I set about with all of my cutting, sewing, tracing, appliquéing shit (believe me, I am armed with a lot of craft shit) to make this wondrously curvy thing happen. I traced the pattern, leaving the allotted seam allowance, pinned it in place and sewed like a happy quilting mofo......and then it happened...I defied the laws of physics! The promised wonderfully curvy leaves looked like an angularly jacked up half assed rectangle with a few curve-like edges. WTF? REALLY? What is wrong with me? It's so simple...so curvy, so.....bullshit! I can't do it. It makes me want to choke the living shit out of Sue Spargo for making me feel inadequate, so awkward....so....angular! Back to the drawing board, YouTube, blogs and all of the rest. FINALLY, I think I've hit curvaceous pay dirt. A site that explains it all! Using a tiny little craft Clover craft iron, iron the pattern to the wrong side of the fabric, clip the edges and iron the clipped edges down around the pattern piece. Eureka! I just happen to have a tiny little craft Clover craft iron (I told you I have a lot of shit). I'm on it! On like a monkey on a cupcake on it! Woot! Oh wait, I purchased the iron years ago before the www explosion & did not have the benefit of reviews (honestly, I had never plugged it in). Nice to know I'm not alone. The tiny little craft Clover craft iron also defies the laws of physics! It sucks! It does not get hot enough to melt the wax on the freezer paper! Just when I thought I would never reach curvana......it dawned on me...finger presser! I tried the same technique, but used a finger presser instead of an iron. Guess what?.....curves! Not perfect, but curves none the less!
The lime green leaf was done using the finger press method, the striped one....done with the "simple & easy" method.
